Hannah Block USO Artist Exhibition

The Hannah Block Historic USO/Community Arts Center Presents Emerging And Known Artists.

 

The Thalian Association, Manager of the HBHUSO/CAC are proud to announce the January 2012 Artists Exhibiton featuring the work of eight emerging and known artists from our area. An opening reception is planned for Friday, January 27,2012 from 6pm - 9pm to coincide with the Fourth Friday Gallery Walk. The event is free and the public is invited to attend. The exhibition will run from January 27 through March 23, 2012.

Eight local artists will present their work in varios mediums. MELANIE WALTER creates pine needle baskets embellished with other natural materials. She is inspired by a childhood desire to create something from nothing. BARBARA BEAR JAMISON has painted since the age of 10 and she works to present pieces of life with oil on canvass. JENNY McKINNON WRIGHT is a plein air artist who works primarily in oils and captures the emotional richness of our local landscapes in her work. RYAN LEWIS creates mixed media abstract paintings that give shape and color to the invisible - sound. DA PASCUA presents a photographic collection of landscape images from world travels - beyond the horizon of Wilmington. LYNETTE ASHBY is a jewelry artist who works in recycled aluminum and believes in the three R's -  reduce, reuse and revamp. RONALD WILLIAMS uses water color to depict memories of growing up in Wilmington and to showcase the beauty of the southern coast and our architecture, from Virginia to Florida. Our final artist, IVEY HAYES, is known for his vivid use of bold color and unique shapes that reflect his life experiences in acrylic on canvas. Mr. Hayes will be presenting his first new work since 2010.
